A true maestro of soundtrack, Kenji Kawai is responsible for the legendary soundscapes of anime and cult films such as Ghost in the shell, Avalon, Ring, Ip Man and Seven Swords among many others. Patlabor 2 the movie is one of his most experimental offerings, an outstanding palette of emotionally-filled ambient atmospheres and percussive mastery that breathes through Kawai's minimalism and modern classical approach. Its symphony of moods paints a delicate picture of urban isolation, the central theme of the film, but does not hide hints of hope for a joyful future.
